A Gist of Tiger Solanki

DSD SOLANKI who is commonly called  as Tiger Solanki was born on 2nd March 1973  in a business  family and had his basic education at St Mary’s School, St. Philomena's High School, Mahajana PU College and Vidya Vardhaka Law College, Mysore.

He was a successful NCC cadet of the No.8 Troop of St Philomena’s and was adjudged the Best cadet Junior Division in the year 1988 for the Army, Navy and Air Wing  in N C C Group Head Quarters, Mysore, he also led his troop in 1988 as Flight Sergeant and he was awarded as best Contingent Commander of the Best troop of the Army, Navy and Air Wing        N C C Group Head Quarters, Mysore, and he has undergone training in Para Sailing, Gliding and was awarded a certificate by Aero Club of India, New Delhi and he has done  all the three certificates  “A” “B” & “ C “ Certificate and he was the Cadet Under Officer of the 4 Karnataka Air Squadron Mysore in 1991-92.


He was the Charter President of Rotaract club of Mysore South East in 1993 and just in a span of 18 months was elected unopposed to the chair of District Rotaract Representative of Rotary International Dist 3180 in other words he was one of the youngest person to adorned the chair of Rotaract Movement till date which stands as a record till date today. 

The Rotaractors and Rotarians of the district were apprehensive how this young boy of 22 years would manage the affairs of the vibrant Rotaract Movement which is spread across 500kms in radius.He saw through that Rotaract movement functions efficiently and he was the only DRR who made 100% RI and Dist Dues collection successfully which stands as a record till date today. 

He successfully led the Rotaractors to Rotasia-96 to Varanasi and clinched Asia Zone Cricket trophy beating Srilanka with his brilliant shot to boundary in the last ball. 

He hosted the Silver Jubilee Rotaract Conference “Rajat-96” at Mysore and was one among the three selected from India to go to United States of America on Rotaract assignments for two years.

After demitting the office of the Rotaract in 1997 again he reverts back to passion that is adventure and organised many adventure programs.

He has been a successful trainer in adventure sports since 1997 with various adventure agencies like Youth Hostel Association of India, New Delhi, Almanac International Voluntary Adventure club, Deccan Mountaineering League, International Academy of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Karnataka Police Academy, Police Training College, Gulbarga, Police Training School, Channapatana and Administrative Training Institute in the country.

He has been the founder of many adventure organisations like Rotaract Adventure Corps-1997, Tiger Adventure Corps-1998, INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF MOUNTAINEERING AND ALLIED SPORTS-2001, Rotary Mysore Adventure Corps-2002, Rotary Mysore Midtown Adventure Foundation 2005 Society for trekking environmental protection (STEP NEW DELHI) in 2009 ,Tiger Adventure Foundation-2013 and THE MOUNTAIN GOAT-2015.

He joined Rotary Midtown in Aug 1997 and has served at various positions like Director, Hon Secretary, and District Chairman of Inter Dist youth Exchange and Zonal Coordinator of the public relations, Rotaract Committee of Zone-7 RI District 3180 and RI Dist 3181 & Chairman of the Dist Awards Committee of RI Dist 3181 and all his family members are Paul Haris fellow's. 
Engeen’s, an adventure camp is one such project which is still remembered by the youths of the country which was done during the 2000 series when he was the community service director.

With his able communication skills he has attracted large number of youngster across the country to the adventure sports.

DSD Solanki who is commonly known as tiger Solanki in his Adventure fraternity for his dare devilry  is a visionary, who thought of projects like HOPE-2006, the first ever congregation of visually challenged, tribal’s, speech and hearing impaired for the Himalayan expedition to Yankar Pass in HP which was flagged of by His Excellency Shri T.N Chaturvedi, the then Governor of Karnataka and at the same time when His Excellency Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam  came to know about the program like this,  he invited the team to Rashtrapati Bhavan and spoke with the organisers about the purpose of the program and later he wished the team by signing on the expedition flag and on the caps of the all the 40 trekkers.

In 2010 he again took the cause of the socially deprived youths and led yet another program called Dreams-2010 the first ever Himalayan expedition to Kuari pass in Uttarakhand for the orphan youths of Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Maharashtra which was flagged off by His Excellency Shri Hansraj Bhardwaj, Governor of Karnataka and was also wished by Shri Sachin Pilot, the youngest Cabinet minister of UPA govt. He has taken more than 1400 youths to different expedition in Himalayan Ranges in Sikkim, UK, HP and J&K since last 2 decades. 

In 2007 he participated in the mountain biking expedition in high altitude from Leh to Lamayuru as part of 60years of India Independence and later in 2009 in Height of adventure and pedalled from Kullu to South Pullu and knowing the difficulty they have undergone in the Himalayan region they were invited by His Excellency Shri Hans Raj Bhardwaj, Governor of Karnataka who saw the slides on their expedition. It has got a mention in the Limca Book of Records in 2011 series.

In 2013 he intruded into the forest of the Nagarahole and Bandipur ranges and selected 24 youths for the Himalayan expedition, which was again flagged of by His Excellency Shri Hans Raj Bhardwaj, Governor of Karnataka and was wished by the Shri Omprakash IPS, Director General of Police, Karnataka. The expedition was first of its kind in the history of the south India. 


In 2016, in the First Ever Mountaineering Expedition for the Kannadigas was organised to Mt Friendship Peak in Himachal Pradesh for house wives and students and which was flagged off by His Excellency Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana, Punjab and Administrator of the Chandigarh



He had taken House Wives and youths who have no knowledge of adventure and made them summit on 17,500ft usually this frequented by the seasoned mountaineers during the course which is called as Basic or Advance  Mountaineering Courses  in that region and he put fifteen of them on the top, which is worth appreciating and when the same was known to the His Excellency Shri Vajubhai Vala, Governor of Karnataka the team was invited to the Raj Bhavan and he congratulated the team and honoured all the mountaineers for their wonderful feat.

In 2017, he took an exclusive batch of fifteen young speech and hearing impaired to the Himalayas which was flagged of by His Excellency Shri Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, Governor of Karnataka and was greeted by His Excellency Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana. He is an extra ordinary man who has introduced the adventure sports to underprivileged people of the society. 


Solanki’s first passion is aero sports, and has introduced Para Sailing to orphans, Deaf and dumb, mentally challenged and visually challenged followed by rock climbing, country rafting, archery Cyclothon, Sky diving, Mountaineering and Scuba Diving. 

Archery for the visually challenged in Karnataka has been popular sport which is well received by the people of the state and especially for the girls. Which started as entertainment in an expedition in 2005 in himachal pradesh became a most sought activity in Karnataka state which was experienced by the Visually Challenged, Speech and hearing impaired and other people of the society had hands on experience. Its been almost 18 years since the activity is flourishing in the country under the aegis of the tiger solanki.

When kids of this age are busy in the activities like chatting on the face book or insta in other social media. He has taken his 13years daughter Riya Solanki to Everest base camp too in 2017. Who is supposed to be the youngest one from the Karnataka state to ascend that height!

He has trained more than 6000 uniformed personnel’s from  Deputy Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Excise, Chief Inspectors of Maldives, Pondicherry police officers, police Sub inspectors and constables since 2008. Its been almost 15 years consecutively where he has trained the police officers from the rank of Constable to DY SP's of the Karnataka State.

He has served as the Camp leader, Co-Director and Field Director on many occasions in Himalayan Ranges with YHAI, New Delhi in places like UK and HP under the patronage of the ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt of India, New Delhi.

He participated in Static line solo Sky Diving Course organised by Indian Parachute Federation and Aero Club of India, New Delhi in Palampur Gujarat & Pondy and successfully jumped and landed safely too and he was the man who introduced the Sky Diving in the heart of the Mysore city who made sure that mysoreans take the benefit of this activity and at large the mysore was the best know destination for the sky diving. 

Awards: He is a recipient of Rotary Datta Teachers Award for his exemplary training imparted to the youths in adventurous sports.

Felicitation: He was felicitated by Bankers Recreation club in 2006 for adventurous feat and Rotaract Club of Mysore South East for social service.

He was felicitated by Youth Hostel Association of India, Palampur Branch, Gujarat for exemplary courage shown in doing STATIC LINE SOLO SKY DIVING in 2011 at Desa Air field, Gujarat. 

He was felicitated by Karnataka Police Academy for his exemplary services rendered to the Police Department in training the probationers for the last 14 years. 

Nari Shakti-2018: He is the man who has envisage a program for the females on the dreams of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi to empower women and to commemorate this dream he led  a SPECIAL-26 to Mt Baraadasar Pass which is at a height of 15,000 feet in Uttarakhand.  

Administrative Training Institute: He is the man who has envisaged new training module for the Gazetted officers of the Karnataka state govt where in the probationers are exposed to the wilderness and given a hands on experience in bouldering, archery and has trained more than 1000 officers since last four years.

 


SKILL INDIA: A matter of pride for us as we trained the first batch of 24 young officers of the INDIAN SKILL DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS of the GOVT of India in Wilderness, Rock climbing, Summit concept and Archery.

ASHA- 2019: It is giving a hope to the Girl Child to realize her dreams to soar high in the sky. In his speech on 15th August 2018, from the Red Fort, Our Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi reiterated about the tribal Girls ascending the Mt Everest. This is also part of BETI BACHAO AND BETI PADHAO. 


This tribal girls were drawn from Bandipur and Nagarahole range and it was first of its kind in the history of the Karnataka state where in an exclusive expedition to Himalayas was organized for the tribal girls to the Himalayas and where they summitted on Mt Saurkundi pass.



Celebrating 35 Years of Adventure : 
Tiger Solanki celebrated his best on Mt Uhru peak in 2022 by successfully climbing the peak in Kilimanjaro range in Tanzania along with six of his colleagues.

It is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest single free-standing mountain above sea level in the world: 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) above sea level.


Vision-2023:
It is a Vision document to be written in golden letters by the TIGER ADVENTURE FOUNDATION as they are all set to lead an exclusive expedition in Himalayas for the Health sector for the most impressive class which nurses the wounds of the people with humane touch. 

 It is being said, that this angels in the health sector who serve the community with utmost devotion. In other words, I recall the angel “Lady with the Lamp” Florence nightingale who served the wounded soldier in the Crimean war with passion.

The expedition was held between May 05-16, 2023 and the team ascended on May 12, 2023 it was a historic day where fifteen nurses of the Karnataka state celebrated the “INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY” in the Himalayan Range at a height of 15,000feet in UTTARAKHAND. It would be pertinent to mention that this expedition was  first of its kind that has ever been organized for the benefit of Female Nurses, in the adventure-history of India. 

He is heading the Accounts division of the solanki group who are into Non Banking Finance sector for more than 6 decades. He is working there since 1993. He is married to Mrs Santosh Kanwar a dental surgeon and Associate Professor in Oral Medicine and Radiology at Farooqia College of dental science and the couple are blessed with four children:

He strongly follows swami Vivekananda saying “Awake, Arise, stop not till the goal is reached”.

He is the man who doesn’t believe in taking any awards and felicitations, 

he says

कर्म करो फल की चिंता मत करो”

Here is the man who imbibes the spirit of adventure in the youth and he is “THE ADVENTUROUS SPIRIT OF MYSORE city”.
