When teenagers are engaged in the electronic gadgets like video games, whatsapp, facebook etc, but here is thirteen year girl Riya Solanki who is pursuing Eighth Grade in Manasarowar Pushkarini Vidyashrama who thinks differently and goes gala wild in wilderness and to the mountains.
She started at 8 years of age when she first summitted at Mt. Surya top in 2013 and since then she has not looked back and has been to many summit like Mt. Saurkundi Pass, 2014, Mt. Rumtu top 2015, Mt. Kedarkantha 2016 and Mt. Rumtu top again with Visually challenged to realize their dreams and Mt. Tundda Bhuja in 2017 has been four years since, she started going to the mountains but this year she is going for the third time and it meant more to her as an opportunity as she was going to the Everest Base camp which is at a height of 17500feet in Himalayas in Nepal.
It was haunting her since last two years when she was following the serial Everest on the Star plus TV but after seeing the movie Everest she made her mind that at least I should go for Everest Base camp and see the region to aspire further says Riya Solanki.
Though it was festivity time at home and people at home were reluctant to part, but still I went to see the world outside and I thought let me celebrate it outside home and see the difference, it was fantabulous experience in Nepal it is called as “Tihar” which is meant as Deepavali which we celebrated it at Namache Bazaar with the Iron Man Shri Milind Soman and crew, and more kids and adults with dance and dine.
The team consisted about Nine People from Karnataka, Kerala and Telangana left for the Kathmandu on 14th Oct 2017, and we were later joined by Seventeen from Maharashtra and Delhi on 15th Oct 2017.
On Oct 16, 2017 we were squeezed into a small aircraft which carried 7 of us and 2 from other states like Delhi and Maharashtra, and few others on the board, we enjoyed the flight to Lukla, Lukla airport is most vulnerable and dangerous airport in the world.
On Oct 17 2017 we went out for the acclimatization walk and came back to have mouth watering local cuisine made by Sidar family at Lukla Village.
On Oct 18, 2017 rest of the trekkers came down to Lukla and we set forth for the destination Everest Base Camp, we walked around 9 kms to reach phadaking, then trekked about 8 kms to Namache Bazar on 19th Oct, where in the evening we celebrated the Diwali which is also celebrated there as Tihar with dance and dine and we had the opportunity to rub our shoulders with IRON MAN SHRI MILIND SOMAN too, and on 20th Oct we went for the acclimatization day, wherein we trekked to the Sherpa Museum and climbed to the Everest Hotel view were from u get the view of the various peaks like Ama Dabalam, Everest, Lhotse, Chola pass, etc, then further down the lane on 21st Oct, we started trekking to Debuche via Thyangboche Monastery, the monastery is the standing testimony of Buddhist culture being followed in that region.
On 22nd Oct we trekked to Dingaboche, which is a distance of 10kms from Debuche, were in we had to stay for 2 days for acclimatization and part of it we climbed 2500feet and relaxed for the day.
On 24rd Oct we trekked to Lobuche which is about 7kms, but lobuche was pretty cold, were we recorded a temp of -5 degree and on the 25th Oct we trekked to the Gorakshep were we also found a Maharaja Shivaji Memorial constructed by Giripremi of Pune.
After quick brunch we hogged back to the itinerary of going to the Everest base camp and we trekked about 4 kms from Lobuche to Gorakshep and then further 4kms to EBC and back to Gorakshep which is little more than too much for a person who is not fit. So it was total 12kms trek for the day with thin air it was little too much for any soul says Ms Riya Solanki of Mysore.
After trekking for more than 60kms on Maroons, ridges, boulders, landslides region, hanging bridges, cold paths, crossing various mountains, and finally came to Khumbhu Glacier and summitted on the Everest Base camp which is at a height of the 17600 feet in Hindu Himalaya Kindgom in Nepal.
I could see tears rolling down in few of the trekkers as we clicked the pics and few of them were sharing sweets & celebrating the joy of the summit which is remarkable accomplishment in one’s life.
A rare incident I noticed was, I saw a USA citizen a native of Gujarat became so emotional that he cried and he said this was the moment he was waiting as he immersed the ashes of his mother at the Everest base camp, quite an emotional Scene which brought tears in his eyes says Mr.Shreekanth Jain DP of Mysore.
